About me and my story

My name is Tricia Johansson but I use the name Trix Joyce online when I'm making YouTube videos, writing my blog, publishing books and so on. I'm a writer and content creator as well as a self-improvement coach and a philosophy student. Before I studied philosophy I was a student of the behavioural sciences and psychology and I'm still taking courses in these fields alongside my university studies for the moment.

I have autism and I really think that is part of why I have such a passion for learning in my area of interests and why I'm so into the creative field of content creation and even writing, digital art and music making. I'm multi-creative and I think my autism very much plays a part in it.

I was born in Sweden, in 1992 to a Portuguese-indian mother and a Swedish father. I got my autism diagnosis very late so I have been through a lot during my childhood and even during my adolescence and young adulthood. I had both struggles with self-harming, and suicidal ideation as well as trying to survive sexual abuse, physical and emotional violence and other traumatic experiences. Writing and creating arts in the form of music and digital art became my therapy, of course in combination with actual therapy from a licensed mental health professional as well.

Because of my difficulties growing up, my education was delayed and I started to study again at the late age of 24 or 25. I'm now a social educator, life coach in the field of self-improvement using therapeutic techniques, and I've also studied the behavioural sciences, psychology, alternative therapies such as energy healing, spirituality and theology. In 2023 I applied to Open University to study Arts and Humanities focusing on Philosophy.

I strongly believe in taking what you have and building what you want from that as a starting point. Not everyone have the same possibilities in life, it's important to recognise that and to allow people to work from what they have. But it's equally important to try to give yourself hope in one way or another. I have not only autism, I also live with RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and I have a few other health conditions. I've been through much, but I refuse to think that life just "happens to me". Sure, some things are not things I'd ever choose for myself and I cannot control everything that happens to me. But I can control how I react to it and if I should give up or continue.
